In the coastal fields of Hioki, Kagoshima  this single cultivar (Asanoka) sencha is produced completely organic and stays true to its name, which translates to "Fragrance of the Morning," this tea captures the fresh, uplifting energy of the first light in Kagoshima.

Produced by our esteemed partner in Uji who operates one of Kyoto's most respected tea houses.

This sencha is perfect for any moment of the day. Since this tea is lighter steamed (asamushi) the flavor and color is lighter, crisper and more refreshing than tea that is steamed for a longer duration.

One of our personal favorites ways to consume this specific tea is to enjoy the first brew traditionally with less water at lower temperature to capture the delicate notes. Then being more casual by combining the 2nd and 3rd brews into one cup, for long lasting refreshing cup of tea! With this larger cup of tea at the end it is a wonderful invitation to stir in some raw honey for an immune boosting tonic!

Brew Guide

  • 4-5g Sencha
  • 1st: 120 ml water at 60-70*C for 60 sec.
  • 2nd:120 ml water at 80-85*C for 20 sec.
  • 3rd: 140ml at 90-95*C, serve immediately.
